Eastleigh Reserves lose to Tooting

EASTLEIGH RESERVES 0-2 TOOTING & MITCHAM
SUBURBAN LEAGUE

Match Report by Richard Montigue

A young Eastleigh side (mainly under 18’s) lined up against a strong Tooting and Mitcham side in bad conditions with a strong wind and a heavy pitch.

Eastleigh were kicking into the wind and soon found themselves 1-0 down, when Tooting took the lead on five minutes.

Eastleigh battled hard in the conditions and on 10 minutes a good cross from Ryan Long was met by left-winger Dan Smith who forced a good save from the Tooting goalkeeper.

Eastleigh worked hard for the rest of the half keeping the opposition at bay but not really creating many chances themselves, although Zach Glasspool had a free kick just before half time.

HALF TIME: Eastleigh Reserves 0-1 Tooting & Mitcham

In the second half Eastleigh had the wind behind them, but had to make changes on 55 minutes when the injured Ben Ngwa was replaced. Max Sampays moved up front and then on 57 minutes Dan Smith had to come off with a hamst…

Substitutions: Sam James for Ben Ngwa and Ryan Woodford for Zach Glasspool

Eastleigh Reserves beat the bottom of the league side Godalming comfortably with a good 2-0 victory over their opponents.

Zach Glasspool scored both goals, one either side of half time, although their was much dispute about the second!

Early in the game winger Dan Smith put in a decent cross from the right which Glasspool chested down before poking a shot straight at the keeper.

Adam Roberts was a threat down the left wing with his pace and dribbling ability and it was Roberts who created another chance for the dangerous Glasspool shortly after.

Godalming had relatively few chances with Sam Stannard having a superb game at the back. He was winning headers and p…

Doswell Wins the Vote

Doswell Wins the Vote - 23 to 16!

At the club EGM on Monday night, manager Paul Doswell won the vote - congratulations Dos!

As expected, fans young and old are ecstatic about this good news.

Paul Doswell - Quote from Daily Echo (20/02/2006)

Asked if that meant dragging some of the club stalwarts into the 21st century, Doswell said “We just want to bring investment into the club which would then enable a grant to be triggered from the football foundation. The biggest shame about tonight’s vote is that I don’t think there will be particularly any winners. The problem for both sides is that we’re coming from different ends of the spectrum and both have got to stand by their principles. They (Doswell’s opposition) think they can continue more or less as a committee-run club”.

EFC 2-1 Maidenhead - Match Report

EASTLEIGH V MAIDENHEAD
18th FEBRUARY 2006 CONFERENCE SOUTH

After a somewhat dull first half, Eastleigh livened up in the second half and pulled off another good victory with two good goals coming from Neville Roach and Stuart Douglas. Maidenhead got a consolation late on, but Eastleigh thoroughly deserved the points.

The visitors started the game the brighter with a few good chances going their way. Firstly, a good one-two from the Maidenhead strikers forced Rob Marshall to step in and clear the danger.

Only two minutes later, Maidenhead were on the attack once more. Ryan Ashe had a free volley but he fired over from only twelve yards.

Eastleigh’s best chance of the half came in the tenth minute. Midfield playmaker, David Hughes threaded a great ball down the line for Andy Forbes. Forbes turned his man and left him for dead, creating a chance out of nothing, he struck the ball low and forced a good save from ex-Eastleigh keeper Scott Tarr.

Ryan Ashford had a half-chance, when he latche…

Eastleigh had a young side out today against Molesey with new keeper Lee Cozens making his debut following his move down from Birmingham where he played for Kenilworth Town.

Ben Ngwa almost scored within the first minute, but chances for Eastleigh were few in the first half.

In fact Molesey had a lot of the play and good defending from Eastleigh kept them at bay.

Following a shout for a penalty, the Molesey player coach was sent to the stand.

Then just before half time the Eastleigh keeper was beaten however centre back, Dan Brunnen did well to clear the ball off the line to keep the scores level at the break.

Half time: 0-0

Molesey came out strong in the second half and had a shot hit the post and two more efforts saved by the impressive Cozens.

Under 16 player Mitchell Fear came on for his debut replacing winger Andy Dickens, but he slotted into right back with Dan Smith moving to wide right.

Later in the half Ya Yo Diallo replaced left back Jordan Hamilton with Eastleigh…

Eastleigh hit Fleet for four with good performances coming from Ryan Ashford who was captain for the day in Danny Smith’s absence and Neville Roach who on his return from his spell at football league side Oxford scored two good goals.

In the second minute of the game, Eastleigh won an early corner. From it, make shift centre back Andy Forbes rose highest but headed wide.

The visitors took the lead only nine minutes in. Stuart Douglas lost possession of the ball and Fleet went from defence to attack in a matter of seconds in a quick break away. Damian Panter raced onto a through ball and poked past Alan Walker-Harris to give the Ryman League side an unlikely lead.

Three minutes later, Nick Stavroulakis won a free kick on the edge of the area. Ryan Ashford stepped up and fired in another trademark strike with a shot that had a mixture of good power, accuracy and swerve. 1-1.

A Craig Martin cross from the right found Doug…
