Eastleigh 2-3 Farnborough

EASTLEIGH V FARNBOROUGH

29TH MARCH 2006
HAMPSHIRE SENIOR CUP SEMI FINAL LEG 2

Eastleigh crashed out of the cup as they conceded to a late Warren McBean super strike. After going down 0-2 in the first half, Eastleigh fought back tremendously to bring the tie level once more just as they had done in the first leg – but this time they were beaten with an 89th minute winner which was Warren McBean’s second goal of the game.

In the opening stages of the game Eastleigh looked impressive. Inside the first minute Dave Town went on a dazzling run from outside the eighteen-yard box but as he bore down on goal his touch took him away from goal. The ball eventually found Ashford on the left wing he whipped in a great cross for Danny Smith in the centre whose glancing header flashed across the face of goal and out for a goal kick.

After this somewhat explosive start from the home side it was now Farnborough who were beginning to strike.

Carl Gibbs, the Farnborough number 9, used his speed to sprint …

Eastleigh 0-2 St. Albans

EASTLEIGH V ST. ALBANS
18TH MARCH 2006

CONFERENCE SOUTH

St. Albans score two-second half goals to take all three points.

It was the visitors who started the game the better side. Paul Hakim, the St Albans centre forward, skilfully played in his strike partner only for his effort to go just wide of Wayne Shaw’s goal in only the second minute of the game.

Eastleigh slowly began to get in the game and could have gone ahead. Ryan Ashford was brought down outside the St. Albans goal and it was Ashford who stepped up to fire the ball from 30 yards. The superb strike was matched by an even better save as Paul Bastock dived through the air to prevent Ashford’s effort from going into the top left hand corner.

The home side built on this pressure with a few more Ashford free kicks coming close and Martin Thomas also had a good chance as he ran on to new signing Richard Hodgson’s through ball to shoot at goal but the shot lacked the power to cause any trouble.

Paul Hakim somehow worked an openi…

Eastleigh 1-2 Histon

EASTLEIGH V HISTON
4TH MARCH 2006

CONFERENCE SOUTH

Histon score two second half goals to cancel out Stuart Douglas’ ninth minute opener after Eastleigh completely dominated the first half and stole the points in a game of two halves. This result now makes it three straight defeats for Eastleigh.

Eastleigh were simply brilliant in the first half and created numerous chances, with early pressure from both Stuart Douglas and Andy Forbes winning corners for Eastleigh in quick succession within five minutes of the game being played.

The home side took the lead with a fantastic move. Andy Forbes won the ball well nicking it from the defender before playing it left into the feet of his strike partner Stuart Douglas. Douglas played a first time ball out to the right flank for Steve Forbes and his inch perfect cross was turned in by STUART DOUGLAS who timed his run brilliantly and was in the right place at the right time to give Eastleigh a well deserved lead.

In the 15th minute, a lofted pass…

EASTLEIGH 6-1 FLEET

Eastleigh started the game brightly with Adam Roberts going on a good run down the right wing in the third minute before crossing the ball for Ryan Long who forced a good save out of the Fleet keeper, who tipped it around the post for a corner.

Man of the match Ben Ngwa had a good chance on 12 minutes when a good Eastleigh move involving Dean at right back and Glasspool up front teed up the shot for Ngwa but again the Fleet keeper prevented Eastleigh from taking the lead.

Only three minutes later Eastleigh had another very good chance, this time Glasspool created a chance for Ryan Long but his effort …
