EFC FITC - Norwood Taster Day

EASTLEIGH FOOTBALL IN THE COMMUNITY - NORWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL DELIGHTED Wayne and Danny Smith kicked off their new football in the community scheme by starting at Norwood Primary School last week (22/6/2006). Eastleigh's first taster day was highly successful and this is just the beginning! Every child was from Norwood Primary School, were cooached for 30 minutes each. Sue Curtis, PE Manager of Norwood was clearly impressed, "Everyone had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed the taster sessions." This is just one of many booked sessions over the next three weeks, and if you too would like to recieve more information about activities available to you, then call the Community Department on 02380 613361.

Pre-Season Friendlies

Image
PRE SEASON FRIENDLIES - The first team will be in action against a number of strong teams including a Southampton XI, Oxford, who will be playing in the Conference National this year following relegation from League Two and Yeovil Town who are currently only one league behind the Coca Cola Championship, amongst others. This is a great opportunity to take a look at all our new signings, not to mention checking out our revamped Silverlake Stadium - come and support the boys.

More Injuries Worries, But Dos Captures Another Signing

Adam James has returned from the USA, and has re-signed for the club. He is a tenacious right sided player who was excellent in our Ryman promotion season in 2004/2005. He made 12 appearances for the club in that year and will no doubt bring added competition to what is already a talented squad. On a bad note, Chris Collins has badly broken his nose and there are added worries with both Stuart Douglas and Justin Bennett needing scans for knee injuries.

Bound - Top Player in the Conference South

Image
Matt Bound has been voted the Nationwide Conference South Player of the Year for 2005/2006. This is a fantastic achievement and just goes to show what a quality player the club have brought in. Hopefully he will show the same kind of form for us at the Silverlake Stadium and help us gain promotion, just like he did for Weymouth last season as captain.

Justin Bennett Knee Problems

NEW STRIKER INJURY WORRIES The striker who bagged 63 goals for Andover last season and signed for Eastleigh last month, is set to undergo a knee operation but it is thought he should be fit in time for the new season. (See today's Daily Echo for more on this story)

Ground Improvements Update - 08/06/2006

Paul Doswell on ground improvements: Reilly Civil Engineering are going to tarmac all grassed areas including a new 5 metre strip where the trees once stood. Then a new 2.8 metre fence will go down the whole side, with a roof covering a 30 metre area to match the existing stand. This will hopefully be finished in time for the Saints game. Paul Murray has instructed the go ahead for the all weather pitch and work will begin on this project in mid-July and should be ready for September 30th. Finally, the stand extension and new lights will follow in the season."
