Lynch hat-trick for 2nd's

Eastleigh's second team sailed through to the next round of the cup with a 3-1 win over Carshalton thanks in the main to a fine hattrick from Nathan Lynch.

TJ McClory Cuthbertson sat out, following the news that he will be sidelined for six weeks with ligament damage. Zach Glasspool was also missing with groin problems, however the Spitfires welcomed Portuguese, former Southampton academy forward, Totti into the fold to make his debut.

Real name, Aristoles De Carvalho (known as Totti), was nurtured at St. Mary's and played alongside the likes of Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale. He was last at Kettering Town and it is believed, the young forward has signed initially for a month.

A mere twenty seconds from kick off, Eastleigh raced into an amazingly quick lead. Liam Winzar played a perfect ball down the right for NATHAN LYNCH. Taking no second thought, the hot prospect despatched an inch perfect lob up and over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net with a classy finish.

On five minutes, Carshalton's Danny Elgar struck a fine volley against the outside of the post from 25 yards.

Eastleigh were at their very best six minutes later when Lynch very nearly doubled his tally for the afternoon. It was an excellent flowing move with Totti holding the ball up before threading through down the line for Winzar, the right back centred to find the goalscorer but Lynch's extravagant overhead effort flew wide of the mark.

The woodwork came to the rescue for the visitors on 16 minutes when Totti was played clean through. Striking the bottom of the left upright, Eastleigh were very unlucky as Carshalton survived another decent attacking move from the hosts.

Meanwhile at the opposite end, Reece Wilson came extremely close to providing an equaliser as his header hit the inside of the post and rolled agonisingly close along the goalline before eventually the danger was clear.

Becoming an open game somewhat, Eastleigh were the next to attack. Nathan Lynch picked out Totti with a clever reverse pass to play his strike partner in the clear. Anthony Hall in the Carshalton goal did well to charge down and make an important stop at the edge of his area.

Midway through the half, Athletic levelled things up when Eastleigh failed to deal with a set piece. The ball was bouncing around wildly in the area before their number 9 clinically finished from 10 yards to blast home for 1-1.

A positive run from Totti moments later drew the foul in a decent position to win a free kick just yards outside the penalty box. Unfortunately James Screen curled the ball out of play from this opportunity.

There was only one team in it from here in though, in all honesty. Eastleigh came forward at every opportunity and really did put on a show with passing football.

Displaying excellent movement once more, Totti linked up with Winzar down the right who promptly swept the ball into the centre with a typically good delivery. Aiden Sainsbury was on the end of it but perhaps did not steady himself the way he should have done as the first time effort sailed comfortably high over the cross bar.

The pressure paid off as Eastleigh and NATHAN LYNCH restored the lead for the front man's second of the afternoon.

It was a goal that coach Adie Burford later described as the best goal he had seen his side score. Ten minutes from the break the same combination of Winzar and Lynch combined to deadly effect as an inch perfect cross from the former was met by a sublime, powerful header that beat the keeper all ends up.

Finishing the half very strongly, things may have been even better for the Spitfires as Horner's long ball forward was flicked on perfectly by Lynch, who knew exactly where Donadao was. The left winger cut inside and on to his right foot to produce an acrobatic save out of Hall.

Not quite so quick as the first half, Eastleigh again hit their opponents with an early goal to take full control.

NATHAN LYNCH, provided the finishing touch as he found the back of the net to complete a wonderful hattrick.

On the hour mark, Totti who proved to be a livewire all afternoon, was unselfish in picking out the surging run of Chris Mason from the middle of the park. The youngster burst forward and appeared to be one and one with the keeper, however Carshalton made a good recovery to thwart the attack.

Introducing two new faces into the game, both Adam Wiltshire and Les Wallace took to the field to replace Jon Horner and Ciro Donadao. This led to a slight reshuffle with Liam Winzar dropping into right full back and Chris Mason moving across to right midfield to accomodate the substitutes.

The game did not see any further goalmouth action, though there was no need as far as Eastleigh were concerned as their polished display ensured their lead remained right to the end, booking their place in the next round of the cup.
