On the opening day of the 2010/2011 Blue Square Bet South league campaign, Eastleigh take on Mark Simpson's Bishops.

This season will be the sixth consecutive campaign for the Spitfires in this division. Eastleigh's highest placed finish came in the 2008/9 season where Ian Baird's side finished 3rd and were beaten by Hayes & Yeading in the play-off semi-final.

EASTLEIGH:

Eastleigh will be boosted by the signing of attacking midfielder Will Hendry who signed for the Spitfires late this week and should be in line for a debut this afternoon.

Ian Baird has four players almost certainly ruled out of today's season opener with Peter Adeniyi, Anthony Riviere, Shaun McAuley and Brett Poate all set to miss out through injury.

It was reported in yesterday's Daily Echo that there are also slight injury doubts over Chris Holland (ankle), Danny Smith (hamstring) and Warren Goodhind (knee).

The Spitfires could hand league debuts to a number of summer signings including, Chris Holland, Jamie Slabber, Richard Graham, Staforde Palmer, Gareth Barfoot, Brett Williams and most recently Will Hendry.

BISHOPS STORTFORD:

Mark Simpson reports that all of the players are looking forward to kicking off the season at Eastleigh and that they all hope that the hard work done during pre-season will pay off.

The squad travelling to Eastleigh will consist of: Nicky Morgan, Matt Jones, Aiden Palmer, Max Lette Jallow, Lynval Duncan, Stevland Angus, Sanchez Ming, Reece Prestedge, Duane Jackman, Hakeem Araba, Ritchie Jones, Ali Abdullahi, Leon Antoine, Scott Shulton, Matt Judge, Jason Mason and Scott Smith.

Sanchez Ming has been on trial at Dagenham & Redbridge during pre-season and has previously played for Fisher Athletic and Welling Utd. Matt Judge was at Thurrock last season but has also played for Dagenham & Redbridge, Luton Town and Spurs.

Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce Richard Hill as their new first team manager, with immediate effect. Richard will be introduced to the players and staff tomorrow evening and will take charge of his first match on Saturday against Maidenhead.
