Blue Square Monthly Awards - November 2010

MILLS MAKES GREAT START AT BOOTHAM CRESCENT

Blue Square Bet South

Gary Mills from York City has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘manager of the month’ for November. In his first full month as manager of the Minstermen Mills has seen his new side remain unbeaten in seven matches. They have progressed to the Third Round of the FA Cup by overcoming League 2 Rotherham United and fellow Blue Square Bet Premier team Darlington. In the league they have climbed to 14th with two wins and two draws. York have conceded only one goal in over 600 minutes of football during the month as Mills looks to take his side into a challenge for a play-off place.

The Blue Square Bet North ‘manager of the month’ for November is Mick Tait from Blyth Spartans. Tait’s side moved up to sixth place in the table with an unbeaten month, which also included progression to the First Round of the FA Trophy. They go into December off the back of an eight match unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘manager of the month’ for November is Martin Hayes from Dover Athletic. Hayes’ side have captured the attention of the whole country with outstanding displays in the FA Cup which has earned them a place in the Third Round. They won a thrilling Kent derby at Gillingham in the First Round and then beat former Blue Square champions Aldershot to earn a trip to Huddersfield in the New Year. The Whites also remain sixth in the league table after a 3-2 victory at Boreham Wood during the same period.

INGHAM SHUT-OUTS MAKE IT A YORK DOUBLE

York City goalkeeper Michael Ingham has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘player of the month’ for November. Ingham is a firm fan’s favourite at Bootham Crescent and scooped their ‘Clubman of the Year’ award last season. His performances during the month have helped The Minstermen progress to the Third Round of the FA Cup and also start to climb the league table. Ingham has only been beaten once in over 600 minutes of football including six clean sheets. The award makes it a York double in November after his manager Gary Mills scooped the managerial equivalent.

The Blue Square Bet North ‘player of the month’ for November is Phil Marsh from Stalybridge Celtic. Marsh was in fantastic goalscoring form as he found the net six times in four matches including a four goal haul in the 5-0 victory at Workington.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘player of the month’ for November is Adam Birchall from Dover Athletic. After narrowly missing out on the October award the former Arsenal trainee takes the plaudits for continuing his fantastic form into last month too. He scored the opening goal in the Whites 2-0 FA Cup win at Gillingham and both goals in a victory by the same scoreline against Aldershot in the next round.
