Tonbridge Angels v Eastleigh - Match Preview

Match Preview by Kieran James

The Spitfires could not get their own way on Tuesday at Treyew Road despite a brave performance from a young Eastleigh side.

The Spitfires went 1-0 down to a Andrew Watkins 10th minute goal, which was was not the start Ian Baird wanted after a 200 mile trip to Cornwall.

After great pressure from Eastleigh, Andrew White got off the mark for the season scoring the equaliser for the Spitfires when he headed in from a Jamie Slabber cross in first half stoppage time.

Eastleigh played well again in the second half having a disallowed goal and hitting the cross bar, however it was Truro City who got the three points. On 57 minutes Scott Walker converted a penalty after Barry Hayles was brought down by Eastleigh goalkeeper Gareth Barfoot.

Ian Baird's Eastleigh now travel to newly promoted Tonbridge Angels in their bid for three precious points to kick start their season at The Longsmead Stadium.

The Angels gained their highest promotion after an exciting 4-3 win against Lowestoft Town at the end of the 2010/2011 season in the Ryman Premier League.

While Eastleigh have lost their opening two fixtures, Tonbridge Angels won their opening game 4-0 at home to Maidenhead United before losing their second game away to Sutton United 1-4.

Frankie Raymond could still be an injury doubt for this game, the left back on loan from Reading for an initial one month loan has missed the two opening games for the Spitfires.

COME ON YOU SPITFIRES!
