DEVONSHIRE SCOOPS SEPTEMBER AWARD FOR RED HOT IRON

Blue Square Bet South

Braintree Town boss Alan Devonshire has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘manager of the month’ for September. The former West Ham star has led his side through the period with a 100% record of six wins from six matches. They have scored 12 goals in the process and conceded just two. The month began with a 1-0 home victory over Lincoln City in front of a bumper four-figure crowd as part of the Non-League Day ground-hop. The Iron are now quoted at just 16/1 to win the title with Blue Square, having been as big as 200/1 before a ball was kicked. Devonshire’s side begin the month of October sitting second in the table.

The Blue Square Bet North ‘manager of the month’ for September is Jim Harvey from Stalybridge Celtic. Harvey’s side are chasing local rivals Hyde at the top of the table and produced another unbeaten month. Long journeys to Histon and Bishop’s Stortford produced valuable away wins and their defence has performed admirably, conceding just three goals in five matches.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘manager of the month’ for September is Paul Doswell from Sutton United. The newly promoted side have started where they left off last season and sit proudly in fourth position in the early table. Doswell’s team began the month with a 3-1 home win over Dorchester Town and then maintained an unbeaten run which produced 13 points from a possible 15. They also won 3-0 at Truro City during the period, their longest trip of the season.

CAMBRIDGE’S COULSON LANDS SEPTEMBER HONOURS

Cambridge United’s Josh Coulson has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘player of the month’ for September. Central defender Coulson has been at the heart of a U’s defence which has conceded just two goals in six unbeaten matches. Manager Jez George, who narrowly missed out on making it a double September success for the club, has taken his side up to sixth in the table. Ever present Coulson also turned provider in the 1-0 win over Luton Town which ended the period in fine style, crossing for defensive partner Rory McAuley to head the only goal of the game.

The Blue Square Bet North ‘player of the month’ for September is Danny Hall from Hyde. Hall made his debut in Hyde’s first game of the month a 3-2 win at home to Harrogate Town. The central defender then went on to be an ever present in what was another unbeaten month for the Manchester outfit. The former Stockport County player also contributed at the other end of the pitch scoring three goals, including a 90th minute header at Eastwood Town last weekend to maintain his side’s unbeaten start to the season with a 2-2 draw.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘player of the month’ for September is Charlie Sheringham from Dartford. The striker, son of European Cup winner Teddy, took his tally for the season to 11 goals with five strikes during the period.
