MORRELL GETS THE JOB DONE FOR WREXHAM

Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘manager of the month’ for October. An unbeaten month which kept Wrexham’s position at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier table was achieved under the guise of caretaker-manager after Dean Saunders departure to take over at Doncaster Rovers. Morrell led his side to five wins and a draw in the league and also saw them progress to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over York City. After the weekend game with The Minstermen he was confirmed as the full-time boss much to the delight of the Red Dragons’ faithful.

The Blue Square Bet North ‘manager of the month’ for October is Neil Aspin from FC Halifax Town. Aspin’s side won five of their six games during the month including three FA Cup matches to set up a home tie with League One leaders Charlton Athletic in the First Round Proper. Halifax also beat high-flying Hyde in a 3-2 thriller at The Shay as they aim to climb back into the top half of the table and challenge for a play-off place.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘manager of the month’ for October is Frank Gray from Basingstoke Town. ‘Stoke moved up to fifth place in the league table with seven points from a possible nine within the month, scoring nine goals in the process. Gray’s side also progressed to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup with wins over Frome Town, Hartley Wintney and Staines Town. The Hampshire side will travel to League One promotion chasers Brentford on the 12th of November.

OWENS SCOOPS AWARD AT HIGH FLYING SANDGROUNDERS
Southport’s Andy Owens has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘player of the month’ for October. The left back has been in great form for Liam Watson’s side who have gone unbeaten during the period. Owens has contributed with two important goals, both decisive in 1-0 victories at home to Stockport County in the FA Cup and at home to Cambridge United in the league. The Sandgrounders are up to seventh in the table, with Owens only missing the 1-1 draw at Tamworth during the period. Manager Watson narrowly missing out on the managerial equivalent which would have given Southport an October double.

The Blue Square Bet North ‘player of the month’ for October is Damian Reeves from Altrincham. Striker Reeves found the net five times in three league matches during the month including a hat-trick in his sides’ 6-1 home win over Boston United. He was also on the scoresheet in their 3-2 win over Vauxhall Motors and their defeat at Stalybridge Celtic.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘player of the month’ for October is David Bryant from Boreham Wood. Striker Bryant found the net four times in five matches during the month as Boreham Wood achieved a 100% record in their league matches. The former Thurrock frontman started the period with a brace in his sides’ FA Cup exit at Slough Town, but also scored the decisive goals in the 1-0 victories over Dorchester and Hampton & Richmond in the league

Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce Richard Hill as their new first team manager, with immediate effect. Richard will be introduced to the players and staff tomorrow evening and will take charge of his first match on Saturday against Maidenhead. Richard is vastly experienced having managed Stevenage Borough and assisted John Gregory at both Wycombe and QPR, Brian Little at Aston Villa and also fulfilled the same roles at Gillingham, Tranmere Rovers and Northampton Town.
