Play-off spot is dream for Fox

NEIL Fox, one of the new majority shareholders at Eastleigh, believes the Spitfires still have a chance of making the play-offs.

Although Fox and his Bridle Insurance business partner Stewart Donald, are not demanding promotion this season, recent performances have convinced them that fifth place in the Blue Square Bet South is still attainable.

"We formally met the players before the Havant & Waterlooville game on Tuesday and they're a great bunch. Team spirit is excellent and they're right behind Bairdy (manager Ian Baird)," said Fox.

"We've had two very good results against Sutton (4-0) and Havant (3-2) and it's going to be an exciting end to the season."

Sutton currently occupy fifth spot, with Eastleigh seven points behind in tenth.

"If Sutton were to lose at (second-placed) Dartford tomorrow and we beat Tonbridge at home, it makes it interesting," said Fox.

"It's a big ask, but I genuinely believe we could finish fifth, which would be tremendous.

"But we're not too demanding of that this season.

"If we don't make it, next season we will be assembling a squad to at least make the play-offs."

Eastleigh have two injury doubts for tomorrow's game - midfielder Philip Appiah (hamstring) and left-back Michael Green (back).

Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce Richard Hill as their new first team manager, with immediate effect. Richard will be introduced to the players and staff tomorrow evening and will take charge of his first match on Saturday against Maidenhead.
