Thank you EDOF

A BIG THANK YOU

Eastleigh Football Club can announce the resignation of Director of Football David Malone, who is standing down with immediate effect.

Dave has been an integral part of the Spitfires since becoming Director of Football in May 2006, but due to personal reasons he cannot continue his valued commitment to the club.

Posting on the EFC fans forum Dave says “I would like to thank everybody associated with Eastleigh Football Club for allowing me the privilege of sharing so many positive experiences over the past 6 years - and I truly wish the Club every future success”.

Dave who was previously a Director at Winchester City, Salisbury City & Bashley FC has been actively involved in every aspect of the Club and instrumental in Eastleigh’s on the pitch progress. Off field he was an influence in attracting Bridle Insurance to the Club. Simply put, without Dave’s hard work and efforts Eastleigh would not be at our present level within the higher echelons of Non League Football.

Manager Ian Baird says “Dave’s involvement and commitment cannot be over stated. Together we have been through some fantastic highs combined with some darker days and Dave will forever receive the red carpet treatment whenever he visits the Silverlake”.

The fans forum will continue as planned tonight at the clubhouse at 7pm and all are welcome. In attendance from the club will be Chairman Paul Murray, Manager Ian Baird and Bridle’s Stewart Donald who has recently become a Director.

Full statement from Dave Malone:

"Now that the Transfer of Shares has been completed, I have decided today to tender my resignation as a Director of Eastleigh Football Club Limited.

"Since 2006 I have been actively involved in every aspect of the running of the Club, most of which has been a very enjoyable experience. During that period, we have weathered the departure of Paul Doswell, survived the on going business recession and more recently attracted and sustained significant new investment in the Club. I am proud to have played my part in establishing our place in the higher echelons of Non League Football.

"Since October 2007 I have worked closely with Ian Baird, and we have shared both positive and negative experiences. We have had some volatile moments, but for the majority of time we have worked as one, in an effort to bring the Club the success we all crave. It is a disappointment to me that, despite coming close, we have not as yet achieved promotion to the Conference National. Perhaps with significant new Investment, that aspiration can soon become an achievement.

"In October 2011, I personally introduced Bridle Insurance to the Board, and along with Paul Murray and Alan Williams we worked for over three months to facilitate their Share purchase and subsequent acquisition of a majority interest in the Club. Now that Stewart Donald and Neil Fox have this interest, I believe the time is right for me to stand aside and allow them to take this Club forward in the manner they see fit.

"I would like to thank everybody associated with Eastleigh Football Club for allowing me the privilege of sharing so many positive experiences over the past 6 years - and I truly wish the Club every future success."

David Malone - 9th February 2012
