After the impressive 3-0 win on Tuesday night to beat Torquay, Eastleigh came into today's game in good spirits. Today, however, was a different story as it turned out to be pretty horrific and one to quickly forget as Eastleigh went on to suffer a heavy 4-0 defeat away at the hands of Barrow. 

With BT Sport covering the game on TV, the 46 traveling Spitfires fans had to leave in the ridiculously early hours of the morning for the mid-day kick-off. These loyal supporters must be praised for their efforts and commitment but sadly on the pitch, it was a day to forget for Ronnie Moore's side. 

With both Reda Johnson and James Constable unavailable for Eastleigh, Connor Essam and Ryan Bird came into the starting eleven. 

It was all square at half-time after a goalless first half but the game's dimension changed dramatically for the worse for Eastleigh just three minutes after the restart. 

Ryan Cresswell was penalised for holding back his marker and in doing so conceded a penalty and a red card. 

Eastleigh suffered a double blow as they had to play virtually the whole of the second half with just ten players and to make matters worse they found themselves a goal behind as Byron Harrison converted from the spot. 

Harrison went on to score twice more to complete a hattrick for Barrow with Nick Anderton also on the scoresheet.

Holker Street horror show for ten-man Eastleigh

BARROW 4 EASTLEIGH 0 EASTLEIGH chose their moment in the BT Sport spotlight to suffer by far their worst result under manager Ronnie Moore at Barrow this afternoon. The early second-half dismissal of skipper Ryan Cresswell proved pivotal as the ten-man Spitfires succumbed to a hefty 4-0 National League defeat at Holker Street.

Richard will be introduced to the players and staff tomorrow evening and will take charge of his first match on Saturday against Maidenhead.
