FA Cup 1st Round Draw - Eastleigh to face Swindon at home

Having beaten North Leigh comprehensively in a 6-0 win on Saturday, Eastleigh have been drawn at home in the First Round Proper of the Emirates FA Cup against League One side Swindon Town.

The tie is set to be played at the Silverlake Stadium over the weekend of November 4-7.

Joe Partington commented: “It will be a good test for us to try and pull off a result against a League One team.

“It’s nice for the fans to experience another League side coming to Eastleigh. Hopefully we can emulate the atmosphere we had when Bolton were here last season.

“Last year’s run was massive for all the lads in the team and it was great for the club and the chairman to get such good coverage. If you play the FA Cup right and do well, you get publicity the league will never give you.”

Meanwhile Eastleigh boss Ronnie Moore has played down rumours linking 6-goal midfielder Luke Coulson away from the club. Moore said: “It doesn’t help when you read things like that.

“No one’s come in and said here’s money on the table for Luke.

“Like I’ve said before, he could play at a higher level, it’s just a case of how high. If he continues as he is, it’s just a matter of time.

“But no one’s come in for Luke and the chairman has not stopped him going anywhere.”

In other Eastleigh news, BBC Radio Solent are reporting that the Spitfires have had a bid accepted for a player from one division below the Vanarama National League although they are facing competition from teams higher up the pyramid including one side from the Premier League.

Eastleigh boss plays down Coulson interest

MANAGER Ronnie Moore has played down reports linking Eastleigh's hot property Luke Coulson with interest from two SkyBet Championship clubs. Word from the West Midlands suggests the highly-rated midfielder/wideman is on the radar of both Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
